1. Renault ๐ซ๐ท announced its limited-edition electric R5 Turbo 3E received 850 orders in one week despite a โฌ155,000 price tag. This cas will use first-ever in-wheel motors for a production car.
2. Novo Energy ๐ธ๐ช said it will cut 50% of staff, or 150 jobs, after Northvoltโs ๐ธ๐ช bankruptcy, citing costs and poor market conditions. Volvo Cars ๐ธ๐ช now owns Novo and seeks a new partner.
3. Ferrari ๐ฎ๐น said that its first fully electric car will hit streets in October 2026.
4. Stellantis ๐ซ๐ท๐ฎ๐น๐บ๐ฒ plans to cut up to 500 jobs through voluntary exits at its Melfi plant ๐ฎ๐น, which employs 5,000 people. This follows a similar plan for 350 job cuts at two other Italian facilities.
5. Uber ๐บ๐ฒ announced that it will partner with Pony AI ๐จ๐ณ to deploy robotaxis on its platform, first in a Middle East market this year before expanding to other locations.
6. Waymo ๐บ๐ฒ said that it plans to build autonomous Jaguar I-PACE and Zeekr vehicles at a new Arizona plant this year with partner Magna International ๐จ๐ฆ.
7. Amazon's Zoox ๐บ๐ฒ announced plans to increase robotaxi production next year by opening a new California facility, expanding beyond its Fremont site. The company will launch public rides in Las Vegas this year, followed by San Francisco.
8. Rivian ๐บ๐ฒ announced that it will invest $120 million to build a supplier park near its Illinois ๐บ๐ฒ plant. One of the main goals is to reduce costs for R2 SUV production.
9. Mazda ๐ฏ๐ต announced it will adopt Teslaโs NACS charging port for its electric vehicles launched in Japan from 2027, following an agreement reached with Tesla ๐บ๐ธ.
10. Geely ๐จ๐ณ said it offered $2.2 billion to buy the remaining 34.3% of Zeekr ๐จ๐ณ at $25.66 per share, aiming to streamline operations and counter fierce EV market competition.
11. Mitsubishi Motors ๐ฏ๐ต announced an agreement with Foxconn ๐น๐ผ subsidiary Foxtron for an EV model to be developed by Foxtron, manufactured by Yulon in ๐น๐ผ, and launched in Oceania in the second half of 2026.
12. Mahindra & Mahindra ๐ฎ๐ณ reported that SUV sales will grow up to 19% this year despite broader auto industry's 1-2% growth forecast, with its new EVs helping it reach top spot by revenue against Tata Motors and MG Motor.
13. Nissan ๐ฏ๐ต announced it canceled plans for a $1.1 billion EV battery factory in Kyushu ๐ฏ๐ต. The company also reportedly prepares to offer early retirement to several hundred staff as part of its restructuring that cuts 9,000 jobs globally.
14. BYD ๐จ๐ณ said it aims to sell half its cars abroad by 2030, up from 10%. It targets 800,000 foreign sales this year, up from 417,204 out of 4.27 million total.
